FA53 CUP

Bit of a long-shot this, but I thought I would ask here....

When I was on my way to the match last night, I passed a car with the registration number FA53 CUP. It was a Golf I think.

This seemed like a bit too much of a coinkidink, but I didn't think too much more about it. Then, when I was driving past the station about 40 mins later, who did I see in front of me almost running down a dickhead pedestrian? FA53 CUP!

Now, the only thing I could think of was that maybe for some odd reason they transport the actual cup in this car...but it's probably not the best idea to advertise this fact on the number plate!

I have since done a bit of research and found out that the winners of the FA cup in 1952/53 were....Blackpool.

So, anyone got any idea who was in this mystery car?
