Yup. That's the UK's biggest problem. For example...

...I spent 4 years commuting from Delft to Amsterdam (drive in rush hour = 2hrs, train = 1hr @ 15 quid return paid for by company), then 2 years commuting from Leiden to Den Haag (drive in rush hour = 1.25hr, train = 45mins @ about 5 quid return paid for by company).

Would never have dreamt of driving those roads and still I've only brought the car twice in the last 2 years when I had to be somewhere beyond the Hague quickly after work. But if we'd had British public transport I'd have driven every day.
