Norwich In for Lappin

Davie Provan states Norwich are in for Lappin. He also states we have been giving Lappin stick when did he last attend one of our games I wonder?
Anyway If we get a really good offer then I think he would go.

Lappin has always received a lot of stick - unfairly I think.
As a player he always trys his best and admit he can make mistakes but I see more positives than negatives.
I would be sad to see him go if an offer comes in but think for him as a player a move would be good as he needs to play in another team to develop and add to his game. Whether Norwich is the right move or not I'm not so sure.
Prefer to see him stay to end of the season and move in the summer.

Simon is a good player but I'd be very surprised if Norwich would be interested in him.
I'd have expected lots of other SPL clubs to be having a look first or at the same time as well.

I think we would miss Simon if he was to move on. Too often, we take his contribution for granted. He can be a bit erratic but he is certainly one of our most accomplished players.

100% agreed, Simon is one if not our most important player, not enough people see or understand this and just get on his back

I think the last thing we need at this crucial stage of the season is to lose Lappin.
I am sure he will have a good career in football but I don't think a move to Norwich City is the answer.

Depends on how much we can get Cyril. A really good offer would allow us to bring in players who might have been out of our price range.

IMHO Simon is one of our most important players. I think he's made the step up to the SPL and performed well. His crossing 9 times out of ten finds its target and we would miss him badly if he left.

Agreed, and I've often feared that some of the abuse he gets on and off the pitch (ie on here) might scare him away if an opportunity arose. Remember the recent article in some of the Sunday papers that someone had been giving him abuse from the NB so he took great pleasure when he scored to get it right up said "supporter".
I think he would be a terrible loss for us, just look how bad we've been with him and Murray out the team (or Simon) playing out of position.
I hope this rumour isn't true.

If we get a decent offer we should take it and use money to attract other players. I am on record as saying Simon has contributed some great crosses but can offer a whole lot more, but all to often this is not forthcoming.

If the board have ambitions to stay in the SPL then they should not be selling one of our best players. I don't think they will anyway.

don't open the box! no delia!
Lappin is a key player that we should be looking to retain, unless the money offered is totally obscene.

Norwich can GTF
If we accept anything less than 250 thou I'd be raging. If Alan Gow is worth 500k then surely Simon is worth at least half of that.
Hope he stays til the end of the season at least

I'm always amazed at the amount of stick lappin gets, all of the pundits have picked him out as being a step above most of the other guys, yet still the saints fans dont give him credit, my mate evn said he felt lappin was the weakest player in our team, I can't understand how people have such a poor opinion of him!

No, i think it's the fact that apart from a goal against Falkirk and a good display against Rangers at Ibrox he's been utter rubbish for the past 2 months!!
He's the ultimate frustration because you know he's got it but just fails to show it half the time..
the comment about 9 out of 10 crosses finding their man is bull, when his crossing is good it's almost Beckham like but half the time he doesn't get it past the 1st man.
I hope he doesn't leave but you'd imagine a player who has his ability will eventually move on as will most of our better young players at some point, to be fair i'd rather he went to Norwhich than anyone else in the SPL because our defending of set pieces is worse than my local primary school's team and he'd know how to exploit it.
Norwhich might not be that massive a step in the right direction for him but he'd probably at be on at least 5 times the wage he gets at St. Mirren, because whoever it was Alan Russell went to trebled his wages and they weren't as big as Norwhich, who was it Chsterfield or something?

If Simon leaves I would expect our goal return until the end of the season to be minimal. Say what you like about Simons consistancy, he offers us an attacking threat (when played in position) that I dont see coming from anywhere else in our midfield week in, week out.

It may also be worth noting that Simon Lappin is still under contract with Saints beyond this season.

I think we will struggle to hold on to Simon Lappin.
Excellant player who will shine with better players around him.
This will probably flush out other interest in him.
Norwich are an excellant and strong Championship club.
I lived in East Anglia for a good spell and both Ipswich and Norwich are superbly run clubs.
Doing poorly just now but have potential to get to Premiership if Peter Grant is good enough.
Would be a good move for Simon Lappin both financially and from a football point of view.
It would also stretch him as the competiton would be much higher for a starting position.
We must keep him till end of season.
