Go to Barca. The whole point of travel is to discover new places, so the 'not knowing the city' argument doesn't hold water.

It's hardly difficult to get there - daily flights in and out on your choice of the easyjet types to BA etc.

You'll be fine with English in Barcelona. Probably a better option than using pidgin French or English in Paris, knowing the unhelpful Gallic gits.

And most importantly, Barcelona isn't full of French people. That's got to be reason enough to go there instead of Paris!

Going to Barcelona is hardly taking risks. Broaden the mind and try somewhere new, be adventurous. It's only a Western European citybreak, for heavens sake! It's hardly a trip to Algiers.
