They're just being over protective

The language barrier is no problem - plenty of people speak English. And part of the point of travelling is discovering new places! What's the point of just going to places you know? And they must have been unknown at one time.

I don't really think the destination has anything to do with it - I suspect they're just concerned that you'll get into trouble through no fault of your own (except perhaps your own naivety). I'm sure they'd be happier all round if you were going with a couple of good mates.

At least, though, they've realised they really can't stop you going if you really want to.

I think andross is right - you have to be a member of EnglandFans to get tickets through official channels.
