Thing is, you rarely know what you're going to get for your (club's) wodge - there've been spectacular big-money flops more often than there've been hugely successful cheapos (that's a guess, a sweeping statement and a generalisation with absolutely no foundation) but at least if they're both poo they won't be expensive poo.
And as for lappin (and Eagle too, in time, hopefully) being reportedly a bit slow for a wide player - I think one of the best wingers I ever saw was John Robertson in the Forest Champs/Euro champs team, and I think *I'd* have beaten him for pace.....
