Yup. If Turkey went as far as invasion it would be a bloodbath, and probably either

ignored or played down by NATO, UN, EU, etc.

What could they do ? NATO's only option would be to throw Turkey out by the rules of NATO preventing members from aggression against other members, and the EU would have to stop Turkey's acceptance into the EU. If either happened, Turkey would probably prevent any Western forces from using their airbases, terrain and airspace, removing the buffer zone between Yurp and "Here Be Dragons" which Turkey now is, and making it very hard for any military actions or "policing" in the Middle East.
