Well I always thought that if I was a Dictator

Then the country wouldn't be that bad off!

Dictatorships could work, but only if the person running it was a decent bloke who morally did the right thing, and wasn't interested in lining his own pockets, or was power crazy (which a hell of a lot of them are). Castro by all accounts cared about the people of his country - hence communism. Unfortunately, far left socialism, although good for the poor, doesn't work in the long term (I often think Chavez left wing led Venuzalia is heading for disaster in the very long term when the oil runs out)- it doesn't enrich the populace unless there is investment. Better to have capitalism, but with some socialists checks on it to ensure the wealth generated is shared a bit more fairly.

If I was a dictator , then I'd make this country great again... But I'd probably piss a lot of people off as well... But only because I'd do things my way, and not their's... For example I believe in John Rawls' theory of Social Justice (the idea behind it is, if none of knew how our lives would turn out before hand, and could all club together before we were born to agree moral views to ensure the worst off aren't in such a bad position (because it could be us!) then we'd put it in place)), then the world wouldn't be such a bad place. Of course, I'd stand up to facists and wouldn't appease them like Churchill (unlike Chamberlain), I'd respect religion (even though I don't beleive it) as morally it's got a lot of things right, I'd support the family, and I'd sink shed loads of money into technology research and primary school education and equality of opportunity! Beyond that, it's up to the average man to sort his destiny out!
