They'll piss it away on ever higher players' wages because

to stay up they will have to compete against the even richer Prem clubs.

It's just spiralling out of control, and it will kill the game as we know it. It's already dying and in 5 years at this rate it will be dead as a competitive sport.

The rifts between players and fans will grow larger commensurate with the larger gulf in wages between the two factions, as fans refuse to accept sub standard performances from players on ?80k a week who are no better than the players of 20 years ago who were on ?300 a week. It's not the players' fault, but they will bear the brunt.

You're already seeing it at Norwich with fans hugely resenting the ?4-?8k a week paid for players who are either not good enough or considered lazy. When a shop worker is paying 5% of their annual wage to watch players earning more than their annual wage in a week they expect nothing less than 100% commitment.

Then you see Etuhu poncing around for 90 minutes and is it any wonder that the relationships are breaking down?
