Why are we in a mess then?

Simple isn't it? Because we are paying Premiership wages to players many of whom are barely even League One quality. How did that happen?
Well some of the blame falls on Worthington. But some of it falls on scouts who can't find decent players but keep, instead, finding dross.
On an Academy that has failed to provide an outstanding player since Robert Green (who signed as a professional more than a decade ago).
On a medical team that have allowed us to sign players that are patently not fit enough for Championship football (and one who, in one of those only at the Costa del Colney moments, isn't even fit enough to eat his Christmas dinner).
It rests with coaches who can't coach the team in defending dead balls and who, after 2 1/2 years still haven't got around to teaching Gallagher how to line up a wall.
But most of all it rests with a board who refuse to take any interest in footballing issues whilst cheerfully admitting that they are "obsessed with off-the-pitch activities".
We had a chairman before who was more interested in buying land and gold-plated taps than football once before. And it ended in relegation. And it will this time too. If not this season then next - when we will have at least ?7 million less income.
I don't care how obsessed you are with selling pies Mr Munby - you'll never sell enough to make up that shortfall.
