The High Court in Glasgow heard Mr Brand, from Irvine, taunted his English workmate Kirk Loftus about England's defeat against Portugal.

Welshman Richards then broke every bone in Mr Brand's face with a rock and cut his throat with a bottle.

Mr Brand choked to death on his own blood.
