Can this guy get more out of them? Would an experienced man have done so?

I very much doubt it. Take a few cases in point.

1. Doherty was managed at Spurs by Hoddle, and by Pleat (who had been in management for nearly a quarter of a century). Plenty of experience there. Doherty had the same reputation there as he still has here.
2. Etuhu was managed at Preston by Billy Davies and Craig Brown, and at Man City by Keegan and BFG. Hugely experienced managers. He wasn't any different there.
3. Prior to joining us Robinson had 8 clubs in 10 years. Must have been some experienced managers in there - yet none of them ever paid a fee for him, or managed to get a fee for him until we come along. Strongly suggestive that he has never been any good.
4. Thorne has never been fit. The only way we'll ever get anything out of him is if Hoddle and his faith healer come in.

Yesterday (apart from a few minutes from Brown) we saw Worthington's players, still being coached by Worthington's coaches. If Gallagher STILL can't line up a wall properly just what exactly has our goalkeeping coach been coaching him in these past 2 1/2 years?

The consequence we face now is that because the board allowed Worthington to throw all our money away on useless w**kers and loanees whilst they fiddled in the kitchens we now have a situation where the action that is needed: clear out half of the players and all of the backroom staff can only be funded by selling Earnshaw.

I struggle to see how any of that is Grant's fault, and I struggle to see how it would be any different under any other manager - even Dave "8 on the trot" Penney.
