well

"I said that they should take an interest in footballing matters as do, for example, the board of Manchester United. You appear to disagree - why not say why you disagree rather than simply misrepresent my views?"

- I'm pretty sure that's what you said, whether that's what you meant or not is another question

"And successfully managing an annual budget of tens of millions of pounds really requires skills that have very little to do with football. Several of the board are successful entrepreneurs - frankly I think they would have more idea how to manage a budget than someone whose main qualification was playing left back for Sheffield Wednesday. Again, if you feel that experience did confer on Worthington the ability to manage a huge budget why not tell us all how it did?"

- You're working on the assumption that they did not take an interest in the financial side. I'm working on the assumption that they did, especially with contracts. All I'm talking about is the footballing side of the business, e.g which players to sign. I wouldn't want a board to veto signings or anything like that because I believe you need a football man to manage things like that. The fact that Nigel cocked up so much is a shame but I don't think more board input would have fixed it. The only real mistake they made was not getting rid of him sooner
