Certain clubs in the Championship appear to be going mad paying ridiculous prices for average players. Desparation appears to be as rife in the Championship as in the Premiereship.
This doesnt bode at all well for NCFC in the transfer window. These silly prices also emphasize the importance of finding potential in the lower divisions and developing that potential - unfortunately something which in recent years the club has singularly failed to do.
In blowing my own trumpet I remember speaking with one of our training staff ( Steve Foley)at Colney about Greg Halford
at Colchester in January 2005 and strongly recommending that they take a punt with him. At that time he was beginning to show promise but had a poor attitude. At that time we were struggling in the premiereship but in a good financial position to acquire him as a long term prospect. He is now likely to be sold in the transfer window or in the Summer when his contract expires for megabucks.
