The truth hurts. The Saturday before Liverpool played Norwich City at Carrow Road. I was present during the Police briefing and the officers were told that a proportion of Liverpool fans would turn up at Carrow Road drunk without tickets and charge the turnstiles forcing entry. The police plan was that if this occurred the pen at the Barclay end that was empty and seperating theopposing fans would be used as overflow for these ticketless fans who would be better off in Carrow road drunk rather than roaming streets. This is exactly what happened. The following week at a game that was oversubscribed the tragedy occured due to fans behaviour and the incompetance of police in not reacting to police intelligence that was readily available.
