Do we have a goalkeeper problem?
Yes-Gallacher is a useful squad player, but no more than that. We need someone who can commend respect from his defence, has the ability and confidence to give them instructions, and who can do the simple things-crosses, kicking, covering at set pieces-well, as well as making flash saves for the cameras.
Is Gallagher rubbish?
No. Fairly decent but, with the squad we have, the way that we -should!- play and the dodgy defence that we seem to have had since the halcyon *sigh!* days of Culverhouse-Butterworth-Polston-Bowen (or similar in that era!) -and even they had off days-we need someone with the command and authority as already described.
How many keepers do we need in the squad?
I would go for a established number 1, Gallacher as reserve keeper and Joe Lewis as the pending threat, firstly, to Gallachger-but he (Lewis) needs that loan spell.
Would you have Marshall back under any circumstances?
Yes, wouldn't have a problem with his coming back but it would have to be as a back up.
Do you still like Green?
Got absolutely nothing against Greeno, he did us proud and hung around for longer than he had to-bet it was deja vous for him at Reading though!
Would Hughes be better off in the nets?
Cricket nets probably! To be fair, how many games has he started for us in what is "supposedly" his best position (ie) an attacking midfielder who backs up and goes up the hole (o'er!) behind a front two?
Best keeper ever: Green / Gunn / Keelan / Woods / Hansbury.
Keelan was obviously a bit special-love the clips of him, tight shirt and shorts, sleeves rolled up, no gloves-hard man! Gunny is special as well, but, if I could have any ex-keeper back and at their peak, it would be Chris Woods.
