It was intended to be so

Until you started with the grumpy bollocks

With regard to point 2; Worthington did apparently do so to sign Carl Robinson. Whether the oversight is lacking in other cases I can't say. But if the manager is fixed on a player he wants to sign, such as in the case of Hughes, how would direct oversight from the board have prevented the signing assuming the manager was eloquent in his presentation? It certainly didn't stop Fergeson from signing the likes of Veron, Kleberson, Bellion, Taibi, etc. That would require the board to over-rule him on footballing matters. If the manager takes one player on higher wages rather than 2 on low wages on the grounds of "Quality not quantity", again that is a footballing matter and has a certain logic.

Bear in mind that the first 3 1/2 years of Worthington's reign bought him a LOT of credibility in the board's eyes. I'm certainly not denying that the end result is a f**kup of grand proportions, but I think you're being a bit heavy-handed on the board and that I don't see your logic necessarily follows.

Whatever. Fuck it, I can't be bothered to argue cos I feel like s**t anyway. I wanted to explore your opinion, but I think we'll agree to differ.
