Ok I run the chance of being slated here, but lets just step back and think about this.
Now is the time to sell him.
If we hang on to him we have an outside chance of reaching the playoffs, but realistically its a slim chance so we have to assume we probably wont. Even if we did, we need to win them, so lets work on the fact we are Championship next season.
We know if we dont go up, theres a gulf in the accounts due to no parachute payments. This gulf will need to be addressed making us a soft touch to any half decent offers. All of a sudden we dont hold the bargaining chips, and earnie walks off for what we paid for him.....approx 3m back in the kitty, none of which goes to the manager....its to satisfy the books.
We sell him now, we hold the cards, we name our price, we "dont have to sell" we get the best deal for the club, and Grant may have a couple of mil to spend...i.e the profit on and above the 2.75 + adons we paid.
I think we have to consider selling.... as much as it hurts. We all love to see good players, but its too risky to hold him till the summer, where the likelyhood is we will be asset striped at knock down money.
