The Star today urges the Ipswich killer to strike again - and soon.
There were scenes of unbridled celebration in the Star offices this week as reporters eyed the chance of regional Press awards.
But editor Nigel Pickover said: "We need more killings - and we'd appeal to the killer to maim his victims so we can call legitimately call him the Ripper
"It's been a great week for us and my reporters are so thrilled that they're not just out reporting on road accidents on the Haughley bends.
"Our message to women of Ipswich is - get your short skirts on and get out there, you can't let the killer stop you living your life, or what's left of it."
One Star reporter has volunteered to dress up more like a hooker than usual and hang around outside Portman Road in an attempt to trap the maniac - dubbed Orwell Jack by desperate hacks.
"If it gets me a BT Regional Press Award it's well worth the risk," said Lucy Hoe.
