You can either get a little FM transmitter (circa ?10-?20), or if your car stereo an a Line In socket, that way.
Similarly you can get the right cables to attach it to your stereo for any mp3 player.
iPod however has more dedicated connection devices. My car stereo, for example, has a little dongle you can buy which atttaches an iPod to it, and allows you to use the stereo conotrols (and sterring column stalk controls) to control the iPos, which I think if rather splendid (not that I have an iPod, so it's reasonably redundant).
iPod is nice and easy to use, but a bit on the pricey side.
The sony NWA mp3 players (I have one) are really good quality, and cheaper than the equivalent size iPod, but don't do video.
And then there's oodles of other players I don't know anything about.
