Another boring tepid performance against another average team. After yesterdays defeat it has finally hit home to me how far we have declined and how we are in for a long hard spell of mediocrity.
I thought at the outset that it was one of the worst NCFC line-ups of the last decade and, although the first 25 minutes weren't too bad, the performance of many of our so called "players" was all too predictable.
Villain no.1 so far as i'm concerned was Dickson Etuhu - he's not had a decent game now for about 2 months and yesterday was a pathetic disgrace as he just ambled round the pitch in his embarassing pink boots not making a single forward burst of any note or any tackles. The man has some talent there when he can be bothered but frankly i've had enough of his continued no shows.
Etuhu's incompetence was compounded by Andy Hughes giving yet another display of why he simply is NOT a midfielder. He gives us nothing on that right wing and contrary to what some people think does not offer Colin any extra protection as he's always running off all over the place to give the ball away. Again however when switched to the back late on he looked an excellent defender. In my opinion he could still have a future with us as a full back but not in midfield.
Other than that Thorne, Jarvis simply NOT good enough and should both be farmed out. Drury had a decent first half then a torrid second half and to be honest is lucky to still be in the team. I thought Robinson played quite well.
So basically in my opinion we need a complete overhaul of the midfield before we will show any signs of improvement. Croft and Chadwick coming back will help but Etuhu, Robinson and Hughes all cannot be relied upon there and should either be on the bench or shipped out in January. Coming in we need as a minimum one striker, one central midfielder (probably two!), a centreback and a left back as well as Camp on a permanent basis.
Question is will our ultra cautious board give grant the funds to do all this.
