Techie help: Recording off sky...

Right, i need some help. I havn't got Sky+ but want to record off sky. I got my self a 5 in 1 scart adapter today, and so far ive hooked it up so that i have:

1) scart adapter plugged into tv
2) scart lead from sky box into adapter
3)scart lead from dvd player into adapter

So far everything works fine, so that leaves me with a scart lead going from my sky box into the back of my VCR, so to get my VCR to record off sky, would i take the lead out of the sky box and leave it in at the VCR and plug it into the adapter, or leave the lead in the sky box, take it out the VCR, put that into the adapter, and get another scart lead to put into the VCR to the adapter?
