... And I'd be absolutely flabbergasted if it were 100% true. Of course it's just speculation, and the sort of stuff I'd never put on my blog, for example. I fully expected it to be shot down in flames - because, with no proof, how else would anyone considering it react?

It still makes no sense to me, though. To have such a large wagebill, while simultaneously dithering, and failing to back the manager 100%: they could've sacked him at any time if he was indeed on a rolling deal. Worthy himself seemed pretty fatalistic to me during the summer: he knew the end was almost certainly nigh. But I just can't believe a board could be THAT incompetent: sabotage is more likely than this level of mismanagement, surely?

Hence the theory: failing to sack him only makes sense to me if the club actually couldn't afford to do iit.
