I totally agree with that...

...but just remember seeing in the news that we had written in the contracts of everybody at the club rises and falls in salary depending on promotion.

It was part of the whole 'togetherness' thing we had going on at the time, a club sticking together - enjoying the good times as a group and suffering the bad. The sort of thing that meant we had Championship medals made up at extra cost for every player so that everyone got one etc..
