I agree with what you say as an overall view. What PG got wrong was his assessment that the players played with passion and commitment but that the fans did not show the same commitment in supporting the team. When Worthie was in charge he frequently came out with comments about the team`s performance that , from the fan`s perspective, was distanced from reality.

Noone watching the game on Saturday could have called the players performance passionate and committed. They were negative and lacklustre from the first minute. That is what , in my opinion, caused the crowd to be so quiet. Even when we scored the crowd celebrations appeared muted. That is because we had been watching a game of football that was about as exciting as watching paint dry. I also think that the player`s no show at Ipswich the week before contributed to the muted atmosphere and we were all hoping ( which never happened) that the players would be going all out to rectify that.
I agree with you that Grant has sacrificed style for results and he has been quite successful at that. Would we have beaten WBA and Birmingham away and Sunderland and Cardiff at home under Worthie ?The answer must be an emphatic no.

So PG by all means complain about the quietness of the crowd but please do not justify the complaint with statements about the performance of the players that are risible. Had he said simply that he was disappointed that the crowd did not seem to encourage the players to victory after we went one up then noone could have criticised him for saying so and indeed would have had the effect of encouraging the crowd to give more vocal support. So NCFC fans lets forgive PG and give him the players the vocal support that he is asking for tonight and trust that he will turn out a team that will deserve such support.
