Here is what a friend of mine had to say on hjearing Peter Grants' post match interview;-
Unbelievable. I saw the post match interview with Grant on yesterday morning's Championship highlights and was staggered at his venomous attack on the fans (24,000 who turned up for a game against a team languishing second bottom of the table) who in effect put money in his pocket. His comment in this morning's paper, "We needed them for the full 90 minutes and we didn't get that. For me, that's a disgrace", is probably the most bucolic and intemperant criticism by a manager of his own team's supporters that I have ever heard. Has he been partaking of the same sauce that triggered Delia's similarly misjudged half time outburst of "Let's be 'avin' you" some 2 years ago? A manager, especially one new to the job, cannot afford to antagonise and ostracise his club's followers.
Be interesting to see and hear the home crowd's reaction tomorrow night against Leicester.
I dislike Roy Keane intensely but if his Sunderland charges put your boys to the sword next Saturday.....maybe Grant will blame the 2 or 3 thousand fans who will shell out good money to travel to the north-east in blind loyalty.
He should take a leaf from Stuart Pearce's book.....never criticises his team's fans and, indeed, apologises for sub-standard performances.
