It's would be hard to detect inflection from text.

If you wrote 'Hertz van Rental, that doesn't sound English', I wouldn't automatically think you were racist, but it would be an odd way of putting it.

If you wrote 'Hertz van Rental, that's an unusual name, where does that come from?' I wouldn't think you were racist.

If you wrote 'Hertz van Rental, sounds like a f**king foreigner to me' I would think you were racist.

However, if you said 'that name doesn't sound English' with a sneer on your face and in your voice, I would start to think you were a bigot or maybe a racist.
