that it doesn't make sense to build your team around an ageing maverick whose future at the club isn't guaranteed and who if he loses his pace will have nothing left (his decision making is sh*t, he doesn't score goals and he doesn't tackle).
We have been commenting for ages now on how we haven't solved the problem of how to accommodate him. If you play him up front he doesn't score and wanders off onto the wing. The same thing happens if you try to give him a free role behind the strikers. Play as a left midfielder and your fullback gets exposed.
If we're going to make a fresh start and build a new team, maybe it would make sense to do it with players who can play in proper formations like 4-4-2?
I'm not neccesarily saying that is what we should do, but it has to be considered seriously. While Hucks is already a club legend for 2003/4 we have to face the fact that he makes team shape difficult and that from this point on he is highly unlikely to get better and will probably get worse.
