but here's probably not the place. But just to nail a couple of Daily Mail myths - did you know that the numbers of immigrants, and asylum seekers, have been falling for several years? That the asylum seeker numbers are at historically very low levels? That we now have very strict immigration policies that mean that essentially non-Europeans can't come here unless they have a skill we're short of? And that European immigrants are overwhelmingly young workers who contribute far more than they take from our public services?

So the line that 'our services can't cope' doesn't have much basis in reality. But then nor does much of the right-wing reporting on this subject.
