you're thinking of

'to be laid off', which is a bit different, it means that the company decides to stop employing you (normally because of financial restrictions). But i suppose you could say that its a similar thing in some respects.

I'd just use 'leave'. If in doubt, use the simplest word you can think of. It's probably the best one.
