they might even produce film where he can be clearly lip-read to say exactly that, but they were sunday league team-mates and you don't know what their private banter is like. I went to school with two guys - one black, the other Italian, who called each other nigger and paki respectively. Best of mates, and the way they did it didn't offend anyone who knew them, regardless of race. But if they had done it in front of strangers, I am sure they would have offended a lot of people. So even if it was like that, Terry should have had the brains to keep his mouth shut - King couldn't ever publicly defend a comment like that from Terry even if he knew it wasn't meant to be seriously offensive.
Not saying this is the case, just mentioning that you need context as well really.
I'd be surprised if Terry was the racist in the England team. Can you imagine him being supported by other England players in captaincy when we could conceivably field this team?
