All teenage poetry is pretty s**t

But if it's something he's genuinely interested in, it would be a great thing for him to start up. He would have to do a few grown up things (like booking venues, printing posters, drumming up support etc), which would be good for him. And even if the first meetings consist of a half a dozen people reading out their works to each other, starting something from nothing is a real achievement he could feel proud of.
