My mother, who knows her preserves, reckons the yanks are right.

Apparently what we call "jam" should most often actually be called "jelly" 'cos that's what it is. It's not two words for the same thing, it's two different things. Fuck knows what the difference is. Well, my Mum knows what the difference is, but I don't.
