CURETON RETURNS TO CITY

FORMER City striker Jamie Cureton returns to Carrow Road for the first time in a competitive match in hot form for Colchester tonight.

Cureton has so far bagged six goals for the U's, helping them up the Championship table into a comfortable midtable position.

The one-time City youth product started just 13 games for Norwich, scoring six times, before being sold on to Bristol Rovers. The youngster had leapt into the first team on the back of an amazing record at youth and reserve team level, scoring 135 goals in 187 games - including seven hat-tricks, two fours, three fives and one occasion when he scored all six goals against Leyton Orient.

But for one reason or another Cureton's senior Carrow Road career never took off - something the player blames squarly on himself.

"It's definitely one of my biggest regrets," he said, speaking to On The Ball - the official Norwich City matchday programme. "I would loved to have had a proper first team career at the Club. I just think that being a bit young and na?ve I got a lot of hype and didn't deal with things properly and ended up getting sold.

"If I had known then what I know now I would have done a lot of things differently. It was my first club and it was where I scored my first senior goal. I've a lot of good memories"
