And it's not exactly wrong if more than half of their output was in the 90s, surely? That album wasn't released to critical acclaim anyhow so most of their sales and kudos came in the 90s too. My point about Pulp is pretty much the same, they achieved most success in the mid 90s.

If either of these bands sounded more like 80s bands then I'd agree more with your point. Pulp were pretty unique but the Stone Roses bear most similarities to Primal Scream's Screamadelica (1990) and Happy Mondays (90s also). Think Fool's Gold, Step on and Loaded - all sound nothing like anything in the 80s IMHO
