I would personally pull the petticoat in a swift downward movement..

so it snagged on the iron hinges adorning her chastity belt, thereby making violent vertical, horizontal and diagonal rips, rendering the garment useless for future wear... then crochet a woolen replacement for the chilly autumn evenings.
