Gervais and Merchant - I just don't know

I find myself wanting to dislike their programmes but end up laughing nonetheless.

I find so much of Extras to be forced, predictable and irritating (what the hell has happened to Maggie, for example?) and yet so much of it genuinely amuses me.

I just don't know.
