Did you see this? I've put the bit that worried me most in capitals
"Peter Grant's selection will come as a huge surprise to many, I'm sure, as he hardly fits the description we had assumed the club were looking for. Most significantly he has never managed a club before, so he lacks the experience of someone like Curbishley or Tilson, and as ex City players go, he hardly qualifies as a fans' favourite like Crook or Bowen. Also, he hardly strikes me as a 'name' likely to attract players to the Club or enthuse the majority of fans from day one - so he'll definitely need to get off to a good start! On the plus side, according to Mick Dennis on Five Live tonight, Peter gave a very good interview in which he convinced the selection panel that he was the right person for the job. Apparently he had prepared an action plan based on his assessment of what was wrong at the Club, and showed HE WAS FULLY AWARE OF THE CONSTRAINTS UNDER WHICH HE'LL HAVE TO MANAGE. No doubt his experience as No 2 at West Ham when they won promotion to the Premiership, plus last year's successful campaign, will have been in his favour, but the appointment may be more of a gamble than some of the alternatives - that said, the short-list wasn't brimming over with experience so any of them would have represented a gamble in one way or another. And more to the point, at least we haven't just appointed Tony Mowbray! MLS"
