and suggested because he was an average player, he will make an average manager. Nobody knows. Any managerial appointment is a gamble. Steve Tilson wasn't a great player, but we all seem to be keen to have had him as manager, even though Southend are beginning to plough headlong back towards League one. Would Crook and Bowen have been any good? Would Newman have been the disaster some were forecasting? None of us know. But let's at least give Grant a chance. He started off playing with one of Europe's great clubs, so hopefully will have learned good habits from there. OTBC
