is that Peter Grunt was one of a few factors that really showed how far backwards the club had gone in the late 90s... journeyman never-quite-been lured south for a final decent pay day as he wasn't good enough to get into the hooped Weegie clogger's first XI... Grunt, Carey and Michael Milligan made up one of the least inspired/inspiring midfields we've ever had (maybe worse than Hooze, Etutu and Clogginson).
So it's almost certainly wrong to judge the potential managerial credentials on the back of his NCFC playing performances, but equally it doesn't fill me with much optimisim either remembering how depressing it was watching him attempt to play for us...
So sadly I have to agree with the luminary likes of IED (shudder) and be distinctly underwhelmed that in a field of average candidates we have plonked for a very average unproven one, whose experience is a couple of years coaching under a highly thought of young manager and a short and unremarkable spell at Bournemouth before. Hardly the sound of trees being ripped up...
