my preference would have been from group 1 too (probably Penney but only because i'd have got some money for that one!)

but i am also slightly worried about what an appointment from groups 1 or 3 says about our ambition for the rest of the season (and when the parachute payments run out)

an older, experience manager would have at least shown that promotion (or close) was a minimum expectation, but going down either of the other routes suggests that less might now be expected...
