So sadly we can't hire him.

But I'm sure you'd advocate hiring old has beens like Joe Royle, Gary Megson, Bryan Robson, Peter Reid, Graeme Souness - because they've all got experience and had success once (not to mention countless below par finishes over the years).

Instead I'm more than happy for us to do a charlton and give the job to someone who's never managed before - like they did with Curbishly, or we did with Dave Stringer just before we went on the best period in our history. All good managers start somewhere.
