Dear Mr. Doncaster,
If this football club should appoint Kevin Blackwell as the new manager, a large majority of the fan base, including myself, will be exceedingly livid. Kevin Blackwell may have sailed Leeds through turbulent waters and revitalised the club, but it was painfully obvious from the way Leeds performed last season and this that he wasn?t the man to take Leeds United forward. Leeds United fans will tell you that it was by luck that they entered the play-offs and that Blackwell seemed totally incapable of getting them out of the Championship. Ken Bates saw this and acted accordingly.
This is a very important season for this football club and appointing Blackwell when promotion is a must is quite frankly ludicrous. There are better managers available who would jump at the chance to manage this football club such as Dave Penney. Judging by who is currently available, Dave Penney would be the obvious choice for Nigel Worthington?s replacement.
If the board wish to appoint Blackwell, then they might as well have kept Nigel Worthington.
It is imperative that this decision has to be the correct one and appointing Kevin Blackwell would be a step in the wrong direction. It would show a distinct lack of ambition.
