Dave Penney.......

Done a bit of scouting to find out why he left Donny suddenly......

There is also the saga of the fall out between Dave & Mickey Walker. I know that that the official line from the club is that Dave has agreed to leave having taken the club as far as he can, however knowing Mr Ryan's ambition, I personally think that the Penney was pushed!"

"DP has left because the chairman won`t back him anymore and the players whom allegedly have lost respect for him need to remember where they were a few seasons ago and who to thank for where they are now. I won`t be suprised if we end up with gary megson. Kevin keegan won`t come here so don`t get your hopes up people."

"I have heard from a few people as well that all was not well behind the scenes.
Let's be honest, one or 2 of the players like a drink or three and Penney was sick of certain players so was regularly falling out with them. (I have spoke to a couple of the reserve players but this could still all be hearsay of course as I am not in the dressing room!)
Ryan also sets his expectations extremely high whereas Penney has always played down the Rovers promotion hopes.
It will be difficult to get a big name manager at the Rovers simply because they are not a big club; a lot of fans would love home boy Keegan but I don't think it will happen."

"Penneys had his time at Rovers and has done extremely well. Time to move on.
Penney never really saw eye to eye with a few players or staff!! Thornton, Mcindoe and rumour had it Mickey Walker.
But John Ryan has ploughed in HIS money and wants success.
KK for the job. Has been seen in the new stadium with Ryan.
Main thing is 3 points at the Vale on Sunday."

"Penney's done a great job for Donny over the last 7 years.
Reckon he ran out of steam last season though and this year the players don't seem to have anything about them. Team selection and substitutions appeared haphazard. There was suposed to be money for players but nobody appeared to be going to Donny. A new stadium for 15000 fans all waiting soon for the players and manager to get some results to fill but Peeney appeared to run out of steam."

In all, it seems that Dave Penney simply fell out with the either the players, chairman or both or alternatively simply got stale.

Nothing shady other the club not wanting to say why he left.

Which sounds awfully similar to one Mr N Worthington.

So, he doesn't seem a bad choice.
