The point I was trying to get across was the apparent ambiguity of the Board's expectations. I would have hoped that at Norwich, as in every business... the manager agrees to certain targets/goals. These should be reviewed at a regular basis to see whether the aims are being met.
What seems to have happened in Worthy's case is that things were allowed to trundle on with no real challenge to him before the statement was made public 10 or days ago. This is why so many arguments have raged in recent days whether he should have gone 6, 12 or 18 months ago. If clearer targets had been agreed, together with subsequent consequences of failing to meet those targets... then we would have limped along in the fashion we have since Sunday 15th May 2005.
