I'd imagine you set goals in stages. In terms of points you break down the season into how many points you think you'll need and are possible during those stages and aim at what you think is a realistic final goal - playoff place and then the lottery of the playoffs, automatic promotion or run-away champions.

Goals are not only to do with results either. You can have attached to player contract negotiations, transfers in and out, team atmosphere and most importantly of all the day-to-day tasks of the Assistant Kit Manager
