Indeed, which is why I have sympathy with his position

I wouldn't expect him to announce that everything that had gone before was bollocks and there would be swingeing (is that a word?) changes; but it'd be nice to hear some kind of analysis as to what's been going wrong; some hint that he has some idea about what to do should he be offered the job.
