this point shows how tough life is for clubs like ours

the amount we spent trying to survive in the Prem was probably more than we could afford to without restricting our spending ability if we got relegated. And yet it still wasn't enough to make relegation anything other than fantastically difficult to avoid.

If we'd spent less in the Prem the fans would be complaining that we hadn't "given it a go". But by spending it we now have fans complaining that we aren't spending it again now.

There is only so much money available and in modern football it doesn't go very far. That's why the Prem is becoming a "sugar daddy's league". If you don't have one you can't break into it (except for the odd season to make up the numbers).

manager's jobs at clubs like ours are becoming almost impossible because fan's expectations way outstrip the reasonable likelihood of their achievement.
