The three remaining participants of the Frisian pole-sitting championship were forced to stop in the early hours of Monday because of thunderstorms. The trio had managed to sit on a pole near Stavoren for a combined 56 hours and 33 minutes.
Douwe Menger from Balk, who was last to leave his pole, nevertheless managed to set a new Frisian record according to Wytse Prins, chairman of the championship organisation
