But Darren does have a point, yarmy. We got promoted = loads of TV money - about ?20m first season then two seasons of parachutes. We didn't spend big on transfer fees until Deano (who knows about wages, but all the new "high wage" players have now gone), and we sold Deano at a whacking profit, effectively getting most of Earnie for free. We kept getting the "prudence with ambition, we don't want to go bust like Piswich, we are making sure our finances are sound" line from the Board to justify lack of signings last season and this. Now apparently we're teetering on the edge, despite record gates.

We really should be better placed than this!
